  • Hair Extension Aftercare

    1. Before washing hair, brush gently with a bristle cushion brush. De-tangle the ends then brush from the roots to the tips. Make sure that the hair extensions have been separated in the root area..
    2. Wash hair extensions at least once a week to prevent natural oils from building up on the scalp area.
    3. An oil free recommended shampoo should always be used.
    4. The head should be in an upright position (i.e. in the shower or sitting in the bath) so that the hair flows in a vertical direction down the sides of the head. The water should be warm otherwise matting may occur.
    5. DO NOT rub or massage when washing. Use you fingers to stroke the shampoo gently into the hair from the roots to the tips.
    6. Rinse thoroughly using clean running water, gently squeeze but DO NOT rub to remove excess water. DO NOT not massage or rub. Apply conditioner, using downward stroking movements from mid-length to the ends leave on hair for the recommended time. DO NOT comb through hair, rinse thoroughly avoid bonded areas near the scalp. Do not use heavy protein or silicone based conditioners as it may cause the hair to matt or tangle.
    7. After washing and conditioning, wrap a towel around the hair and pat gently to remove excess water. (do not rub extensions).
    8. Separate extensions at the roots before drying, de-tangle hair from the tips, working upwards with a wide toothed comb. Apply and leave in conditioner from mid-length to the ends, then dry thoroughly with a dryer using a medium heat.
    9. If the hair extensions are longer than 10" then place in a loose plait and secure with a covered band on the end before going to bed at night.
    10. NEVER sleep on wet or damp extensions, the extensions should always be dry.
    11. Always hold the extensions whilst brushing to avoid placing tension on the roots, never back comb the roots area.
    12. Brush hair and de-tangle regularly and wash frequently if the scalp is greasy.
    13. Electric curling tongs and hot brushes may be used, but avoid the bonded areas as direct heat may soften and distort the bonds.
    14. DO NOT wash hair for 24 hours. A leave in conditioner may be used mid-length to ends only, do not use on the root area.
    15. Your hair extensions can be worn for up to 3mths, and should be removed after for re-dress. This is due to the regrowth of your hair and to avoid unnecessary stress to the natural hair

Hair Care When Your Hair Is Freshly Straightened

    • Avoid sweat or water to come in contact with your hair.
    • Don’t tuck or hide your hair strands behind your hairs.
    • Hair tying is strictly avoided. Not even any rubber bands or clutches on your hair.
    • Sleep on a satin pillow case. Well, this is advisable even for a longer run.
    • Since you have to avoid any kind of water contact on your hairs so start using shower caps.

Hair Care After Three Days of Hair Straightening

    • You can now wet your hairs. But use mild shampoo and conditioner. Don’t use any heavy chemically loaded shampoos.
    • Use shampoo and conditioner meant for straight hair only. Now a days you will get variety
    • of options for straight hairs in terms of hair care.
    • Avoid hot or even warm water. This will strip of moisture from your hairs.
    • Use a wide toothed comb in order to separate and brush your hair strands while it is wet.
    • Apply a hair serum regularly. This will further heal and repair your hairs.
    • Use hair masks every 15 days on your hairs. This will protect and maintain your hair health for a longer time.
    • Always use a leave in conditioners. This will maintain your hair for a longer time.
  • Eyelash Extension Aftercare

Now that you have lush lashes take note of these tips to maintain them. With proper care and fills

    your eyelashes can last indefinitely.

    • Do not get your eyelashes wet for the first two hours. Do not use a spa, sauna or pool for the first 24 hours. The extensions need that amount of time to properly bond.
    • Avoid pulling or rubbing your eyes.
    • Do not use eyelash curlers with your extensions. With proper application you will not need them.
    • ONLY use oil-free makeup remover. We carry several brands in our salon and can also provide clients with a do-it-yourself eyelash wash. If your eyelashes are tangled or crossed over, use the lash brush given to you during your appointment to gently brush them straight and put them in place. You can purchase a longer life coating to extend the wear of your lash extensions in between fills.
    • Proper hygiene is very important. Please keep lashes clean by regular washing. We have a special foaming lash bath eyelash cleanser available in our salon.
    • Use only mascaras that are safe for eyelash extensions, no oil-based or waterproof mascaras. We have extension safe mascaras available for purchase at your appointment, or online. Only apply the mascara to the tips of your lashes.
    • After showering avoid rubbing lashes, it best to blot them with a towel and let them air dry.
    • You can also dry the lashes by using a hair dryer on the cool setting and blowing them dry from the bottom up. It makes them curlier and fluffy.
    • Use care when applying facial and eye creams to avoid the lash line. Too many oil-based products can break down the adhesive.

Your lashes naturally shed 2-5 lashes per day. If we lose 3 lashes per day in a week we will lose 21 lashes, 2 weeks we will lose 42 lashes and 3 weeks we would lose 63 lashes. For this reason Hair Now recommends touch-up appointments every two to three weeks to maintain your new eyelash extensions.

    WHAT IS NORMAL?

Initially, some bleeding, localised swelling, tenderness or light bruising.

During healing, some discolouration, itching, secretion of a clear fluid that will form a crust around the jewellery.

While healing the jewellery may not move freely in piercing, DO NOT FORCE. If you fail to include cleaning you’re piercing as part of your daily routine, normal but smelly bodily secretions may accumulate.

A piercing may seemed heal before it is fully healed, this is because piercings heal from the outside in. BE PATIENT and keep cleaning throughout the entire healing process.
